Keynote.

A stable, efficient all alrounder that blends predictable control, confidence underfoot, and a smooth, performance driven feel through turns and carves.

Intro.

The Drifter 5 evolves toward slightly longer and narrower proportions to improve glide, efficiency, and take off. This refined direction allows the board to accelerate faster in lulls and gusty winds while maintaining a stable and balanced standing area in choppy water. Ideal for riders looking for a wider user-friendly platform. Our signature yet subtle aero nose reduces windage, cuts through chop, hides volume, and helps with water starts without sacrificing overall balance. With redesigned bottom contours, rail transitions, and volume distribution, the result is a compact, stable, yet efficient and playful foil board that remains balanced and versatile.

Sizes: Available in 44 / 5’1″, 52 / 5’3″, 60 / 5’5″, 80 / 5’9″, 90 / 5’11”, 100 / 6’1″, 115 / 6’3″ liters / feet.

Colors: Available in Neon Blue on Marble Silver with Black logos. Ultra-light high-durability thin enamel paint finish, for lighter weight and improved sealing.

Feeling.

The Drifter 5 delivers a balanced all around feel with easy takeoff, rail to rail stability, intuitive handling for riders looking for a blend of carving performance and control.

Designed for riders who prioritize a bit width and stability underfoot while still wanting a board that feels smooth through turns and carves.

Compared to our longer & narrower Super K2 and Arc midlength shapes, the Drifter 5 offers a more compact and traditional feel with significantly more stability and less swing weight.

Speed.

Optimized aero, hydrodynamics, and volume distribution for the easiest, fastest take off in the Drifter line. Controlled rebounds at both high and low speeds in all conditions.

Description.

The Drifter 5 has been redesigned around the idea that a blend between glide and stability unlocks foiling progression and more days on the water. This sleekest Drifter to date improves take off by offering low-end stability to settle into your stance from kneeling to standing and helps the board stay planing, planted, and controlled when conditions are messy.

Using our signature yet subtle blend of aero nose and rails improve airflow, reduces windage and hides volume while the standing zone remains direct, supportive, and stable. This balance makes the Drifter 5 an ideal choice for riders who want a board that feels forgiving and easy to stand on the water, yet responsive and engaging once up on foil.

Vent Plug.

Solid State vent plug that eliminates Gore Tex style failure points and leaks.

Foil Assist.

Integrated 2.4 GHz tuned connectivity windows for Foil Assist systems.

Handle.

Carry handles on boards 70 liters and larger for convenience.

Shape.

Slightly longer and narrower outline than previous Drifter Series. Subtle aero nose keeps the board feeling compact and thinner in the standing area relative to its volume. Subtle double concave displacement bottom contours and overall foam distribution prioritizes stability through the standing area and balances the board from nose to tail for smoother carving and transitions.

Highlights.

Bottom.

• Subtle double concave displacement hull blends into tri-plane bottom chines.
• Flatter hull contours offer stability and a softer, more predictable feel on touchdowns.
• Harder defined tail chines and edges release instantly for faster take off.

Rocker.

• Reduced entry rocker and flatter tail rocker line for faster acceleration and earlier lift off.
• Moderate nose curve to match wave shape, handle steeper drops, and stay composed in surf.
• Smooth recovery in light wind and weak swell, stable feel in messy conditions, cleaner rebounds on touchdowns with less sticking.

Rails.

• Almond shaped rails through the nose creating aero efficiency, the aero nose shifts volume forward in a subtle way that helps the board rise and balance during kneeling starts.
• Transition to boxier rails through the midsection for a more supported feel underfoot.
• Taper into a beveled tri plane tail for clearance in carves and faster water release.
• Improved water flow, reduced drag, and more controlled rebounds on jumps and touchdowns.

Agility.

Significantly faster and more efficient than previous shorter wider boards and Drifter models. Easier to balance and redirect cross-wind than longer narrower midlength shapes. Compact and responsive with minimal swing weight through jumps, carves, turns, and jibes.

Pads & Straps.

• Refined lightweight slotted traction.
• Maximum grip at reduced weight.
• Reduced thickness for improved board feel and control.

Includes Adjustable MFC front and rear internally adjustable foot straps with hardware.

• Surf-style insert pattern with slight offset options for centered, balanced directional riding, reducing heel side bias and keeping you aligned over the foil.
• Closer ½ ” strap insert increments offer more adjustability.
• Centers your stance and center of mass over the board and foil, instead of loading weight too far onto the heel side like traditional wingfoil slalom or racing patterns.
• Straps offer a more locked-in, powerful feel through carves, more control through jibes, and now controlled narrow snowboard stance options.

Track Boxes.

New 14” Universal Track System.

• In house designed 14 inch reinforced foil specific track boxes.
• Puncture resistant elevated channels for durability and compatibility across mast lengths and hardware types.

Hello,
I ride a 72 KT drifter 4 carbon for the second year, I would like to buy a second board KT Super K2 carbon or (carbon pro) I am not sure what size. I weigh 95 kg and ride a KT nomad 980 and 830. Can anyone advise me?

Response:

Hello roman
Which fuselage do you have?

The 80 will be a little bit more technical with the gusty conditions, but it depends on the size wing

If you like to ride with power in the wing, you could take the 80
If you prefer a smaller wing, the 90 will be better

For the speed, you could try the smaller fuselage (56)

Im using the 830 with 155 stab and 56 fuselage

72l Drifter 4 is incredible blend of performance and ease of use for wing and parawing. I'm 70kg . Lots of talk about designing the perfect parawing board and you may have already done it with the Drifter 4 for us older types and Super K for youth and expert.

Greetings. I am an intermediate foiler living in a light wind area and looking to get a second board. I weigh 65k what size would you suggest in your SuperK model? Thanks!

Nora

Response:

Aloha Nora, thank you for reaching out. Please let us know which size board we would be complementing and the winds that you are trying to ride with on this second board. All the best!

Summary - 72L Drifter is a knockout
My level wing foiling (gybing tacking and small waves 4ft ish), 90kgs and 56yrs, currently riding 75l fanatic.
I was able to demo a 72L ginxu2 and a 80L ginxu K which was super helpful (thanks Andy Chambers UK).
When demoing the gunxu2 I found it a little tippy but great to get on the foil, just a bit too advanced for me so after a chat I plumbed for the Drifter 72l.
Used it today for the first time and blown away how easy it is to foil, you can just forget about it - absolute revelation - easier to foil-up, touch downs just recover with ease, the turning and waves is a given.
Thank you
Note I will be getting a superK for my light wind board - what a machine.

Already on a 80 L Wingdrifter since the last two years and really happy with that board. But right now thinking about to upgrade and get a smaller one, to the new Drifter Board but not really sure about which size to get. I’m 82kg and normally shredding on the west coast of Germany (Sylt) and Denmark in mostly choppy waters with some windswell. Could you give any recommendation on which size would be the best for me?

Response:

Aloha Jan, thank you for reaching out. Pascal will be getting back to you shortly.

Been riding the 4'6 x 28L as my all around prone and tow board. The simplicity yet overall balance of this board makes it so responsive and controlled. construction is really strong yet lighter than the previous Drifter models and other stock boards I've ridden. Been using it with the Foil Drive and the connectivity is also great. Definetly my favorite prone board yet!

After testing several boards from different brands, the KT Drifter 80 was absolutely the best choice. The boards is very stable in gusty conditions which is very convenient to get up and going without loosing balance. Furtheore the boards pops out of the water bery easily, mainly due to the longer length (more initial speed and easier to create pop). Furhtermore it looks great and is very well build.

Response:

Thank you Guido for reaching out and taking the time to share your feedback. All the best, KT

I wrote my first impression of the drifter just recently and wanted to provide an update. I had a chance to spend 1.5 weeks in Maui. I started with the 80L Drifter when the winds were lighter. As the wind picked up I wanted to demo the 72L board. I went to the Shop in Haiku and talked to KT who was super kind and took his time to guide me on which size would work for me. He recommended with my weight (78kg/174lbs) I shouldn't have an issue with the 64L. I wasn't sure, to say the least, but figured 'ok, why not'. I was blown away by how great this board was for me. I would choose this one for Maui conditions, which can be quite windy. I was gunning for the 80L but ended up with 72L which is 6kg less than my body weight. So, my recommendation would be to go with a smaller size on this board.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!! I am in Maui and was lucky to get my hand on the New 2024 Drifter thanks to Pascal and the super knowledgeable staff. I love to come to Haiku and check out new things. I vote for the "Best Store" in the world for any Wind/Fun-related toys!
I am 78kg/175lb and ride a Fanatic 85L 2022/23. The KT boards are becoming one of the highest standards in this sport and you cannot go wrong. No compromise, just perfect! Ok, that's what I have been told... 🙂 I demoed the 80L KT Drifter 2024 today and have to say it's true. At least for me. This board is so well-balanced, that you feel at home right away. Getting up on foil, finding the right foot position, etc. just works easy. It performs where your mind wants to go. Another struggle on my Fanatic was that while it is great on foil, getting up there was often hard. I always needed a larger wing size (at least 0.5m more) to get on foil but once up I am overpowered which is a common complaint, especially from beginners to intermediate wingers. Anyway, that all has changed as of today. The KT board is the winner. All works so well that there is no time wasted to be frustrated! This board can help to not only have more fun but truly get to your next level. Big Mahalo Quatro and KT for such a great board. And thanks for always giving folks the time they need to make up their mind and to help them with demoing boards. It's becoming rare these days. Uwe from the Bay Area.

Can't wait to try it... I'm still loving my 80L 5'2" gen 2 drifter (haven't found conditions it doesn't handle well), but I have no doubt this would be an excellent upgrade.
