Description.

The Astro is engineered to deliver top-tier performance across the widest range of wing foil conditions.

From flatwater cruising and effortless transitions, swell rides and surf glides, all the way to the most radical airs and rotations – the Astro was born from and for these moments and this is where it truly thrives.

Performance and comfort, the same criteria, matter for professionals and beginners alike. As a beginner rider, the all new Astro is your all around go to. Getting you on the water for your first forays it makes progression effortless and will be with you through early transitions into seamless ones. As an intermediate rider, when you’re ready to step up to the next level and push harder, the Astro will be right there; taking you from flatwater adventures, into the swells to carve, ride and glide with joy. As an advanced rider, come time you have matured into busting out big airs, you will be right at home on the Astro. As a professional rider you will take its outstanding performance for granted, but truly appreciate the Astro’s comfort, letting you focus on execution of style and the reading of the elements.

Jason Diffin: “Some of the key components I consider when developing Performance and Comfort into our wings are:

Outline Aspect Ratio – The Astro is the result of finding a well balanced wingspan to strut length ratio for good power and good clearance of the wing tips from the water.

Overall Stiffness – The inflated LE sectional diameters have been tweaked and tuned to find the perfect diameter to support canopy and provide the required stiffness to support the wing frame.

Profile Depth and Placement – A radial load line layout provides an enhanced dynamic feel and stability.

Dynamic Twist – Frame stiffness and seam shaping combine to keep the canopy draft locked in the right place to create the proper twist and release on the trailing edge of the wing.”

Highlights.

Handle.

In addition to the boom, there is a Leading Edge surf handle. The placement has been tuned and defined to identify the perfect balance point allowing the wing to fly beautifully in neutral whilst swooping, gliding and surfing on foil.

Valves.

Simple lightweight B2 valves require no special nozzle, are easily serviced and most importantly feather light.

Visibility.

Trademark KT Foiling bright fluo color options prioritize visual impact, visibility and safety. Our fluorescent materials are the most recognizable colorways on the water. An important detail, when you are trying to spot a rider – loved one or offspring – from far away.

Construction.

Wing Designer Jason Diffin: “I have taken my deep roots in super light windsurf sail design and transferred that knowledge over to the wing design. This background has given me a unique understanding and perspective in approaching the wing design. I have focused some high end design improvements in areas I consider to be key to the end result.

The LE and Strut material is ultra low stretch and reinforced rip stop Dacron which provides a perfect blend of stiffness, durability, flex and profile stabilization.

Canopy Radial Load Line Layout for enhanced dynamic feel and stability.

Chafe protection on the tips and tail prevent premature wear and tear during rigging and maneuvering on land.

Reinforced seams have been put into chafe prone areas to ensure longer life and durability.

When I first got the wing, I was a little disappointed by its weight. But my first impression on the water was very surprising: the Astro feels really light and neutral in flight. I feel that the smaller sizes in particular (I've flown the 3.0 and 4.5 so far) fly even better than any lighter weight wings I've had before, and are much less nervous. The Astros take off very early in comparison, with an easy-to-find pressure point when pumping, then really neutral in the air. Material, valves, window, boom – everything is well tested and designed for function and durability. A top wing for waves and jumping with great basic pull, without being tiring. By the way, the 24 or 26 cm mono harness lines from Goya work very well with a harness, which I find particularly energy-saving in winter. Last but not least, the colors are bright and safe, and they look great on the water!

KT Astro 4M Wing Review

After several sessions on the new 4M Astro, it’s clear KT/Jason Diffin have developed something special. Building on the much-loved DD, the new Astro delivers a refined blend of stability, power, and playfulness that immediately stands out on the water.
The frame and canopy have near windsurfing-sail stability, giving the wing a locked-in, confident feel without losing the previous DD’s lively, responsive nature. The redesigned front handle is stiff and perfectly balanced, allowing the wing to drift smoothly and neutrally when swell riding. Its larger size is also glove-friendly—ideal for colder sessions.
Low-end grunt remains excellent, while the extended high end benefits from the improved draft stability and new panel layout. The Astro accelerates quickly, feels faster through transitions, and stays composed even when overpowered.
The new windows offer excellent visibility, and the fresh colorways not only look sharp but also stand out clearly for added safety. The boom is another highlight—ergonomic, solid, and comfortable. It opens up new possibilities for hand positions as well as leverage over the wing in maneuvers and jumping.
Bottom line: the Astro takes KT’s proven design philosophy and pushes it further. It’s a wing that rewards experienced riders yet remains inviting for those progressing. Stable, powerful, and intuitive—this is KT’s best wing yet.

Response: Aloha Chris! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and stoke on our new KT Astro. It has been a pleasure to develop it and even more to see the effect that it is having on your riding. Please keep in touch if there is anything that we can help you with. All the best, KT Team
