You won’t find automatic valves on our solid core boards — there’s just too much at risk. While they might seem convenient, automatic valves can fail if not properly maintained, allowing water into an otherwise perfectly sealed board. And once water gets into the foam, it often goes unnoticed until the board feels heavy — at which point, it’s nearly impossible to fully dry out or return it to its original weight.
It’s a different story with our Hollow Pro Carbon construction, where both an automatic and a manual valve are essential. The larger air volume requires constant pressure regulation to maintain structural integrity — that’s where the automatic valve plays its part. If any water gets in, the manual drain plug allows for easy, complete removal.
Our manual valve system is simple and reliable. Keep it closed when the board is in use or exposed to water, and open it when storing, especially in hot environments — inside a car, a board bag under the sun, or when traveling to higher altitudes. This helps the board breathe, equalizes internal pressure, and prevents delamination.
When closing the valve, tighten it just enough to compress the rubber washer between the screw and the thread. Avoid over-tightening, especially with power tools, as it may damage the seal and lead to leaks.
And as always, store your board in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight to protect it from heat and UV damage.
