Description.

Our shortest and most compact Dragonfly, ideal for the surf, short-period windswell, and quick-turning performance. With a new volume distribution, evening out the nose and tail, the Surf 2 balances paddle power, takeoff, and easy handling across downwind SUP foiling, prone foiling, parawing and light-wind winging.

This latest iteration fine-tunes each size individually, ensuring it as the go-to for riders looking for the surfiest all around Dragonfly, designed to fit perfectly in shorter period conditions.

While sizing always depends on weight and experience level, the larger sizes of the Surf 2 are our most accessible and stability oriented Dragonflies, catering to beginners just as much as the smaller sizes cater to lighter or advanced performance oriented riders.

Ideal locations – Hood River Gorge, Kehei, Bay Runs, Lake Garda, and pretty much anywhere with surf.

Speed.

Refined low-end acceleration and glide from the double displacement hull allow riders to ride narrower boards with greater stability than before.

Shape.

Disciplines: Short period river or lake runs, Parawing, Light-wind wing, or everyday SUP.

Stability: Progressive width through size range provides excellent directional stability across a range of conditions, with improved tracking and control compared to previous Surf designs.

Takeoff: Excels at bounce-style takeoffs in surf or shorter period swells.

Agility.

Hi - I have the 7'10", 120L and love it. I want to use it with my Foil Drive and need the shim I've been reading about. Can you please send the STL model file (or whatever format you're using) so I can have it printed here? I appreciate it.

Response: Hi Brick,
Thank you for your patience!

Please see the attached file and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello,
I could not get away from your DW foiling boards. The latest Dragonfly Surf v2 range just looks great for combining winging, parawing and sup dw.
1 am a small guy (1,70m tall, 65kg), beginner in all disciplines, with main spots in inner lakes, main practice will be wing light wind, ready to be patient on dw sup learning. Thus, I am looking at the 7\'2/106L.
Would it be a good sélection from your view?

Also, could you please confirm Dragonfly Surf v2 construction? Numbers given in the website description looks to be the ones for the Dragonfly v3 (105L full sandwich, 110L
to 135L Dual Fusion Core).
Would the Dragonfly Surf v2 (7\'2,106L) construction be Full Sandwich?

Thanks and Regards,
Mathieu

Response: Bonjour Mathieu,

Pour répondre à tes interrogations.

La 7\'2 106lts en Dragonfly Surf will be a good size, to enjoy your ride in all conditions.

Concerning the construction of the Dragonfly surf:

Construction on the Super K2 Pro Carbon.
The difference is that the inner core of the ProCarbon is made of 2 different densities: one lighter and the other stronger.

This model can also be a nice board for you in 104 liters, allowing you to have a footstrap for winging if you want.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
We can speak in French if you want.

Hello, did you manufacture a plate shim to fill in the gap of the step bottom for a Foil Drive, just purchased the 8'10" Ginxu Dragonfly Surf 2
tks!!!

Response: Hi EV,

I hope you are well, we have been working on a Foil Drive adapter for the Ginxu Dragonfly Surf 2 that can be printed
in any 3D print shop that supports a size of 250mm.

Do you have a 3D print service in your area?

Hi,

I am a very happy user of the first generation of the Ginxu Dragonfly Surf. I have the 8\'2 130L 22 width.
I am not very heavy (72 kg) and maybe I could go for a less volume size but I feel that having 8\'2 length helps a lot to start on very soft waves. It helps driving the board forward and bringing speed. And with the 22 width I am very stable even on choppy conditions or when there is side currents that wants to knock you down while waiting at the line up.
I mainly use this board in SUP Foiling (very small to waist high /maximum chest high ; not very powerful), parawinging (beginner planning to do mostly small upwind-downing) and maybe starting down winding. I am not far from being able to flatwater start (succeeded once)

2 questions about the new model :
- The new model seams to have a reduced width for the same volume / length (ie 20 for the 8\'2 130L vs 22 for the old model), will I loose stability with the new model ?
- do you think I can downsize the size (volume / length) of the board and keep the same efficiency / ease of paddling ?

Thank you
Thomas

Response: Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your message and for sharing your experience with the original Dragonfly Surf. It’s great to hear it’s working so well for your SUP foiling and other activities.

To your questions:

1. Will I lose stability with the new model?
The new Dragonfly Surf 2 range offers a variety of volumes, and while the 8\'2\" model has a reduced width (20\" vs 22\" on your original model), the overall stability won’t be significantly affected. The reduced width actually helps make the board accelerate faster and create stability from speed. Less wetted surface area is noticeablly less drag. making it feel more stable when you\'re up and moving, even slowly at paddle speeds. Even with the narrower width, the overall balance and aerodynamics of the Dragonfly Surf 2 have been improved, which helps maintain stability and performance in the air, especially in conditions like choppy waters or side currents, similar to what you’re used to with the original.

2. Can I downsize the board and keep the same efficiency and ease of paddling?
Yes, downsizing could work well for you, especially at your weight of 72 kg.Most intermediate downwinders will ride anywhere between 100-110L at that weight. Moving to a lower-volume board can improve your overall stability by sitting lower in the water, which helps you maintain balance while paddling and foiling. I recommend considering the 7’6 x 19.25 x 112L or the 7’10 x 19.5 @ 120L Dragonfly Surf 2 for a slightly smaller but still stable option. The design of the Dragonfly Surf 2 helps with quick planing and efficient glide, so you won’t lose ease of paddling, even with a reduced size. In fact, the board will feel more responsive and provide less tracking and more control.

Best,

Ryan

Hi, I am interested in purchasing either the 105 or 110 Surf. I have a long SUP surfing background and now an addicted wing foiler. I will use the Surf for winging in Lake Michigan (nice swell!) and trying paddle surf. I’m 175 lbs. Please could you recommend the appropriate board size? Many thanks.

Response: Hey Bill,

I got your email looking for a KT Dragonfly Surf for winging and possibly SUP foiling. I would love to help you out.

So at your weight, the 105 is going to be plenty of board for light wind winging. Super early lift and really nimble for swell riding. That being said, 105L for your weight is going to be a bit challenging for learning downwind SUP foiling. If I were you, I would go for the 110L, as it will have more volume for your weight, to learn SUP foiling.

I weigh 185lbs and am super comfortable on the 110L. I can for sure ride the 105L, but conditions need to be a bit bigger and steeper with that size. Going up 5L in board size is just going to make things a lot easier, while not having much of a downside performance wise.

Let me know if this helps and if you need any more information.

Hey - I\'m 62kg in weight and am wondering what size Dragonfly Surf would be best. I had the original Drangonfly in the 7\'10 size but lost it in the recent fires. I see the specs have changed for the surf model. I would be using the board for both winging and downwinding. Hoping I can get away with one board for both. I am thinking the 8\' board would add some ease to downwinding but still be nimble. What are your recos based on me weighing 62kg. I\'m an experienced winger, but very much a beginner in the DW. thanks for any tips!
Andrew

Response: Hey Andrew,

Appreciate you reaching out!

I\'m so sorry to hear about your last dragonfly and anything else you might’ve lost.

I am feeling that the 7’10/110L Dragonfly Surf would be the better for you based on your given weight and experience.

Compared to our original dragonfly, the Surfs are a lot more stable. This will make it a lot easier for you to progress in downwinding while also keeping it a bit shorter and agile for winging.

Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions!

Thank you,
Logan

I just picked up a custom Dragonfly used from my buddy who had it shaped for him. I love the board for SUP foiling and wing. My question is concerning the vent screw. Should it be left open when off the water? Do I only need to worry about it if I put it on an airplane?

Response: Aloha Dave,

Thank you for reaching out. It\'s best to leave the screw on to avoid forgetting it. However, if the board is to remain dry and might be in a hot place like inside a car/bag or traveling above 3,000 ft—like on an airplane—it’s a good idea to remove it.

If you have any other questions, please don\'t hesitate to write back. We\'ll be quicker to respond now that the holidays are over.

All the best ?

Love my original Dragonfly but am considering the Surf for some better stability as I’m a beginner. Also just purchased the Foil Drive, is the shim you mentioned above going to be released soon. Amazing products all around, thank you.

Hi there! Big question: Does the new Ginxu Dragonfly Surf board bottom (2024-2025 model) allows for the proper installation and positioning of the full-size Foil Drive with large battery, or does it only fit with the smaller battery options? I own a first-generation Ginxu Dragonfly which, to my disappointment, didn’t have enough space and clearance to fit the full-size FD (I’ve had to size down the battery, to a sport model). Please inform.

JF

Response: Hi JF,

Thanks for reaching out regarding our new Dragonfly range and the Foil Drive fitment.

Unless you’re running the mast all the way back in the boxes on certain sizes, you’ll have to use the Sport Battery to get it to fit.

However, we\'re actually finalizing a design for a plate shim to fill in that gap so that the larger battery can be mounted and clear the Ginxu step. In the meantime, if you’d like to move forward with the Dragonfly Surf, we can send you 3D printed filler piece to make it work.

Otherwise another option would be to mount the FD backwards and use a longer stator cable that you’d wrap around the mast to mount in the same position.

Best,
Ryan Arzy

Really cool looking board, and I am considering to purchase it in Japan.
I am 69 kg in weight and 175 cm in height with 10 years of SUP surfing experience,
and wondering which size of the board is ideal for me. Can you kindly advise?
Interested in the one in 110, 7’10, 21. What do you think?
